Just4theplanet has often declared its pride while reporting on the initiatives of The Prince of Wales – the UK’s greatest Environmental ambassador. Today HRH embarked on an exciting five-day tour of Britain showcasing the best of the nation’s sustainable projects as part of the START tour.

His Royal Highness, who has spoken about the need for long-term sustainability for more than 30 years, will visit parts of Scotland, England and Wales to meet individuals and communities who are doing their bit for the environment such as the Incredible Edible Todmorden project in West Yorkshire.

Travelling on the Royal Train, which is powered by sustainable bio-fuel, The Prince will visit Glasgow, Edinburgh, Wales, Bristol, Newcastle, Todmorden, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham and London. He will be joined by The Duchess of Cornwall in Bristol.

START is The Prince of Wales’s new initiative to help people across Britain lead more sustainable lives and to show what a more energy efficient, cleaner and healthier future could look like and how we can all make a start.

The initiative has been established by The Prince’s Charities with the support of some of the country’s biggest businesses and the help of public and private sector organizations.

The main event of the START initiative is the Garden Party to make a Difference which will launch on Wednesday 8th September 2010 in the gardens of Clarence House, Lancaster House and Marlborough House. Tickets for the event can be purchased on the website.

The START website a huge number of tips and advice to make protecting the environment both easy and fun, to ensure a greener future for us all.

The Prince’s entire five-day tour will be covered on www.princeofwales.gov.uk with news stories, the latest pictures, and exclusive videos, which will also be available on the Royal Channel on Youtube.

Here at just4theplanet – as a UK based environmental news service – we are very proud to have as heir to the throne this passionate human being. He was once caricatured as the “tree hugging Prince” – little did his detractors understand that Charles was 20 years ahead of the curve. Well now just4theplanet has re-labelled HRH our “shining beacon of green light”. From “tree hugging Prince” – to environmental Prince of the world.
